Go Away (for awhile)
Hi. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the email EZ4Newbies Newsletter in the upper left corner of the page. Thanks for visiting!
Below is a link to post on another blog. Yeah, that’s right, I’m sending you somewhere else!
But there’s a good reason: this post is a nice and concise overview of the steps to getting started. Since I believe they cover it extremely well, I’m not going to “reinvent the wheel”, so to speak, but just send you to the good info. The post is on LeadsLeap, which, as you can tell by their ad in the sidebar under “Blog Sponsors”, are one of my blog sponsors, so this is also shamelessly commercial. Here’s the link: Newbie Step-by-Step Guide.
Near the end of the post, they also mention two of their other articles:
Steps in Creating an Online Business and How to Drive Traffic to Your Website
Both of these are also worth reading. Then, the last step they mention is “Keep Learning and Keep Working”. Maybe I’m starting to sound like a broken record (anybody besides me actually remember records?), but in my previous posts, you may have noticed that I keep encouraging you to decide if this is a hobby or a business for you. If it’s a business, it will take some consistent effort (also known as ‘work’) to be successful; we should all keep learning, too.
Now, I don’t agree 100% with everything they say in these 3 posts, but I agree with enough of it that I believe it is worth your time to read them. OK, once again, here ’s the link to the first post: Newbie Step-by-Step Guide. Go, get started, just please don’t forget about me; after all, I’m the nice guy who showed you where to find this good stuff, right? So, come back soon.
Now, quit reading here and go there: Newbie Step-by-Step Guide
Product or Mailing List – Which is More Important?
If you asked this question, “Which one is more important – the mailing list or the product?” any knowledgable marketer would answer “the mailing list”.
Primarily, a wise business person puts the importance of “hungry” demand (and not just any demand) in front of the product. In other words, there is no product if there is no demand. A mailing list represents the demand, or your business, if you like.
If you frequent Joint Venture forums and various membership sites, you will find that product and service owners need mailing list owners more than the reverse. This is because the mailing list owners have the prospects that the others are looking for to sell to.
If you are a mailing list owner, you do not necessarily have to make money from selling your own product, although that is certainly a great idea. You can sell also advertising space or create a Joint Venture with product owners in return for commissions, recurring or one-off.
Most successful web businesses on the internet have established a mailing list first before their product. One example is Friendster.com.
Friendster.com, in the nutshell, is a website that connects friends and potential friends from around the world through a free membership access.
While Friendster.com does not make money from the number of members who join the site, the business makes money from selling advertising space and partnering with other major merchants and businesses, owing to the established number of members Friendster.com has recruited.
This business is perfect example that demonstrates why every business should establish a need or demand before the product itself, and why you should do the same. List-building is critical to your success. You have probably often heard or read that “the money is in the list”. The reason you hear it is that it’s true. So we’ll be looking at list-building for a bit now
